Welcome to Franciscan Clarist Congregation
Our Constitution offers an opportunity for a lifestyle based on the ancient tradition of the Eastern Churches and the original Franciscan Hermitage. (Constitution no. 12) There were requests from a good number of sisters in our Congregation to start a contemplative life. After a long period of study, prayer and discernment, a small group of them persevere in it and a community is started for such a lifestyle. These sisters have travelled far and wide staying in many Ashrams such as Rishikesh, Varanasi, Anjali Ashram Mysore, Kurisumala Ashram Vagamon for the experience. The contemplative Santhi Ashram, Munippara in the Diocese of Irinjalakuda was blessed and inaugurated on 5th March 2007. The General Plenary Synaxis held from 29th January to 5th February 2019, decided to elevate Munippara Shanthi Ashram as FCC Cloistered contemplative House. Deep solitude, silence, contemplative prayer, simplicity and manual labour are the traits of the lifestyle of this Ashram. It is a source of blessing and the centre of God experience for FCC.
